Cassidy Ainsworth-Grace is a Thematic Research Analyst. In our "Q&A with…" series she discusses the highlights from the most recent edition of The House View Snapshot – including its AI generated cover image. She also shares her favourite experience since joining the Deutsche Bank Graduate programme last year.

Q: The cover of the latest House View Snapshot includes an AI image from DALL:E. That was something a bit special. What was the thinking behind that and how was the image created?

A: There’s been much excitement about ChatGPT and other AI technology in the past few months. We were looking for creative ways to integrate this technology into our research that still spoke to the content. For the cover, the team experimented with the instruction of dollar bills flowing from a tap. It took some trial and error, as negotiating with the AI was more challenging than expected, but we eventually landed on a fun image. Our house view is that this technology will disrupt both the written word and art more broadly.

Q: The House View Snapshot is a quarterly summary of #dbresearch macro and markets views. Apart from the AI generated cover image, what were the highlights for you in the most recent edition?

A: The global economy has changed since the end of last year. We have upgraded forecasts for several key economies as tailwinds have picked up on China’s faster-than-expected reopening and improved growth prospects in the Euro Area. However, we remain one of the few voices on the street forecasting a US recession in the second half of 2023. We see justification for the strong risk appetite that has defined the start of the year, but rate hikes also leave the real economy vulnerable.

Q: You are six months into the grad program Cassidy, what’s been your favourite experience at Deutsche Bank so far?

A: The FIC Research speaker session with FX Strategist Mallika Sachdeva. Mallika joined Deutsche Bank at a similar point in her career to us, so hearing her advice was extremely valuable and relevant for us grads just starting out. We got to meet Mallika in person, which was fantastic after a university degree largely conducted on Zoom.
